Abstract: Forbes voted Carlos Slim as the 17 th richest man in the world in 2004. Born to a Lebanese immigrant in 1940, Slim always had the ability to acquire businesses with unhealthy finances and turn them around as profitable companies. He founded Grupo Carso, Carso Global Telecom and Financiero Inbursa and by 2004, he had amassed a personal fortune of $14 billion.
